Peter Kiama Executive Director

Peter Kiama is a governance, human rights, and organizational development (OD) specialist with over 25 years of experience. Peter has rich experience in evaluating human rights programming and organizational capacity and in developing relevant recommendations for institutional strengthening and improving programming. He has a passion for inclusive development approaches and is committed to mainstreaming gender and minorities in human rights interventions.

He holds an MA in Development Studies, BA in Political Science, and has trained in organizational development, human capital management, corporate governance among institutional leadership, and management-related components.

He is also a fan of Man U and Gor Mahia.

Carolyne Njange Finance, Administration and Human Resource Manager

CPA Carolyn Njange has over 15 year’s experience with competence in Financial and Grant Management and Human Resources.  She holds a Bachelors in Human Resource Management BA HRM, MBA Finance, and CPA K and is a member of ICPAK (Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya).

She is an advocate of prudent management of scarce financial resources, aligning resources with the core function and in areas guaranteeing passionate returns on investment.

Hildah Nyatete Programme Officer-Psychological rehabilitation

Hilda Nyatete is a seasoned Developmental Psychologist with 10 years’ experience in the field, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from United States International University-Africa, and an MSc in Developmental Psychology from Lancaster University, UK. She is an accredited member of the Kenya Counselors and Psychologists Association. She has directly contributed to the establishment and implementation of psychological assessment tools and strategies for the protection of Human Rights.

She loves traveling, reading, and all things interior decor!

Caroline Lisanza Assistant Programme Officer- Security sector reforms and advocacy

Caroline Lisanza is a graduate in Counseling psychology from Mt. Kenya University. She has vast experience in counseling psychology of over 10 years in the medical and human rights world. She is also very intentional about working with communities in Kenya's semi-informal settlements on matters of mental health among others.

 
She is passionate about working with vulnerable persons and putting a smile on their faces.

Alex Yator holds a degree in Business Information Technology (BBIT) from Strathmore University and is also a qualified Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA4). He is currently pursuing CPA section 4. He has vast experience in the IT field with over 7 years of experience.

He is a Manchester United fanatic.

Lilian Atieno Administrative Assistant

Lillian holds a Bachelors of Management and Leadership (Business Administration Option) from The Management University of Africa. She works to ensure the administration and programme needs of IMLU are catered for by applying experience drawn from her experience in NGO work environment. 

She is currently undertaking a Certified Public Accountant Part II Sec 4. She is passionate about human rights and a strong believer.

Benjamin Muindi Finance and Admin Officer

Benjamin is a finance management expert with vast experience in grants management (which includes support in project selection, implementation, and monitoring), donor liaison and relationship management, general accounting and reconciliation, budget preparation as well as financial analysis and reporting.

Benjamin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Moi University majoring in Finance and banking. Additionally, he is a registered and practicing Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) fellow.

Kevin Mwangi Programme Officer-Redress

Mr. Kevin Mwangi is a Legal Advisor on national, regional, and international Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. Mwangi is an innovative, dedicated, diligent legal professional, with over 5 year’s global experience, working on human rights. He practices in the areas of legal analysis, legislative drafting, and public interest litigation.

Mr. Mwangi has amassed expertise in law reform, democratic governance, and constitutionalism at the national and regional levels. His work has seen him awarded Law Society of Kenya- Nairobi Corporate Lawyer of the Year 2020. He currently sits as an Expert Member at the African Union division working on Human Rights the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights

Isabella Obara Assistant Programme Officer-Redress

Isabella Obara is a Lawyer and practicing Advocate of the High Court of Kenya keen on development and currently focusing on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. She is passionate about continuously providing practical (legal and alternative) and actionable long-term solutions to contemporary issues.

She inspired by the successful initiatives, creative partnerships, and tools developed by Civil Society Organizations, donors, stakeholders, right holders, and duty bearers as they tactically maneuver the current human rights and fundamental freedom challenges.

Sarah Nyakio is a graduate of the Jomo Kenyatta University and Technology with a background in Communication and Advocacy. She has vast knowledge in development communication and human rights with 4 years of experience. She is passionate about human rights and an enthusiastic communicator knowledgeable in a variety of communication aspects

She has a versatile corporate communications practitioner and passionate about using communications to drive social change.

Livingstone Nyando Programme Officer- Security sector reforms and advocacy

Livingstone has over 15years of working in the areas of Human Rights, Community Empowerment, Program Development, Conflict Management, Peacebuilding, Democracy, and Governance. He has immersion experience, knowledge, and networks in Community Development, Social Research, Interreligious Dialogue, Peace Building, Social Audit, Organizational Development, Feminism, Gender Mainstreaming, Lobbying, and Advocacy.

His inspiration for human rights work is to ensure the rights of the marginalized and less privileged are upheld and respected. Livingstone holds a Bachelors' Degree in Commerce from the University of Nairobi and currently pursuing an MBA in Strategic Management. He possesses a certificate in project management and a Diploma in Conflict Management from MIRO Global Consult in Copenhagen, Denmark.

He is also a full member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya.

Tunnen is a Communication and Management specialist with academic and professional training in Journalism, Information Science, and International Relations. Generally, my world revolves around managing information with a view to inform, educate and change lives/systems. She is an accomplished web content manager and writer as well as experienced in planning, designing, and implementing strategic plans and strategies.  

As a Programme’s Coordinator, she provides leadership in the execution of critical institutional functions under the Strategic Plan: program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, grant management, media liaison, and human capital management.

She is also a  member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) with over 10 years of working experience.

Kavutha Mutua is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She is a graduate of The Catholic University of Eastern Africa and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from The Kenya School of law. She is passionate about advocating for the protection of Human Rights among the vulnerable particularly Women, Youth, and Children.
 
She is also keen on promoting and advocating for inclusive and progressive laws and policies.

Asaph Benaiah Monitring & Evaluation Associate

Asaph Benaiah is an M&E specialist who has expertise in Programmes design, Planning, Monitoring, Evaluations, and Reporting with over four (4) years of experience in humanitarian conflict, post-conflict, and development settings with a background in Environmental Planning and Management. He holds a BSc. EPM from Kenyatta University School of Environmental Science

In addition, he possesses over three years of experience in Managing Evaluations and the use of innovations in data collections with vast experience in the use of Mobile phone technologies in Project Cycle and data collections as well as advanced skills in SPSS, STATA, and Epi-data. In addition, he has experience in Emergency Operations, Public Health, Resource mobilization, and Fundraising in line with the standard project development Cycle.
